Barcelona’s Opera, the Liceu, was first constructed in 1844 on the spot where an ancient convent once stood. Since over 150 years it beholds its important place among the world’s biggest operas. The Liceu underwent several renovations due to big fire, most recently in 1994, and it had to remain closed until 1999.
